This fantastic book was an absolute page turner for me. It kept me up until the wee small hours when I should have been fast asleep. The author has penned a suspenseful tale peppered with twists and turns that will take you on a roller coaster of a ride!The characters leapt off the page they were so believable. One or two were nasty and menacing at times. Others like 'Vince' were a complete enigma. It was hard to work out if he was going to be a good guy or bad guy in this story. But that's the wonder of T. M. Hartley's writing for you. She has the reader on the edge of their seat and if you have long fingernails there won't be any left by the end of the story.
This novel had it all for me: suspense, intrigue, humour, emotion, action and reaction and much more. The main character, 'Jodie', showed her strength and at times, human weaknesses, throughout this story. But over all, she had a feisty spirit which spurred her on. She was very real and 3 Dimensional. In fact, you won't find any 'cookie cutter' characters in this book. They're all believable. Like someone you might know and either love or despise.
The club in itself became a major character in the book. Its shadowy activities and the thoughts of men from the town of Merthyr Tydfil, who portray themselves to be respectable members of the community, indulging in extreme BDSM practices, both intrigue and baffle at times. Until you learn as the reader why one man in particular uses the 'chambers of pleasure and pain' to quell his own perverted desires that he cannot practice in his own marriage.
The same man, who in turn, despises his own wife so much that he puts her through hell and back as a means to both self flagellate and inflict pain on the one woman he should truly love.
This book is breathtakingly good and I'll guarantee you've never read another like it. Go on be a devil... order it today....
