well written and an enjoyable read about one womans journey and discovery about the past things are not always as they seem.
Very enjoyable reading, after getting to a certain point became quite predictable. Over all I really enjoyed the book. I would definitely recommend.
Mary Lou Gediman is a fantastic author who put together a wonderful story full of complicated characters. Her descriptions of people and places made it feel as if I was there. I had trouble putting the book down as I just couldn't wait to see how the main character's journey would end (and I really enjoyed the ending!). I would highly recommend this book for a book club. Thank you, Mary Lou, for this fabulous book. Hopefully there's another in the works.
From the first page I was hooked! Mary Lou Gediman manages a difficult feat--writing an engaging mystery that's also driven by interesting, deep characters whose lives transform as their past secrets unfold.
The main character, Maggie, is especially great--quirky, FUNNY, spunky. She's definitely a real woman who uses her humor and sass to wrestle with the things we all do (how to understand and let go of difficult parts of the past, how to be true to herself as she embraces the future).
What's cool about this book is that Gediman almost hides the story's softer side in the harder edges of a mystery. All the usual suspects are there--a hard-boiled detective, a murder to solve, a shifty priest, a lowly handyman--but like in all good books, nothing is quite as it seems.
It's an exciting read, and the writing style is very much in character for Mary Lou Gediman. Journeywoman has very well developed characters and tells an interesting story in a fairly complicated way. Moves quickly, full of style and moments of brilliance. I couldn't put it down, as the characters were so interesting and different. Overall, I'd recommend this book.
Thoroughly enjoyed MLG's first book. Her characters came to life, and I loved the story. The author's sense of humor definitely shines through.
this was requestedat Christmas time and so I gave as gift....person was delighted as it was highly recommended to her.
